lisa ann stone: Music

woe is me - from the cd "alone"

(lisa ann stone)
this song tells of my father's past and my childhood years, and how we ask for help, but in the end, it all depends on us
woe is me © lisa ann stone - july 31, 2004

dad was a courageous man, he fought on foreign shores
a german gun had brought him down and held him prisoner of war
the sole survivor of that craft, he wanted just to die
he tried his best and stuck it through, to make it out alive

you say, woe is me
lord won't you help me please
get up and help yourself
you alone hold the key

when I was eight, momma died and brought us all some tears
we all curled up in our little shells and tried to quell the fears
dad tried hard to bring us up and keep us all together
though sick and dying, and sick of trying, he got us through that weather

you say, woe is me
lord won't you help me please
get up and help yourself
you alone hold the key

we moved around as army brats, we stayed in lots of places
shallow friends, that always ends, you see so many faces
another year, another school, it always seems the same
make new friends, then move again, who is there to blame

you say, woe is me
lord won't you help me please
get up and help yourself
you alone hold the key
